Retro Fisher-Price Ferris Wheel

We found this at Target. It is based on the original Music Box Ferris Wheel.  Only this version includes "Chunky" style figures!  There is no grumpy carney on this toy...but one of the riders looks like one.  Check out your local Target for one today!

Fisher-Price Musical Ferris Wheel

At the 2014 Fisher-Price Collectors Club Convention I found this Musical Ferris Wheel. The characters were mint in their wrapping from the factory, and it came with the original box! I had been wanting this one for a while, but I had not found one in good condition.  On our way to the convention we saw a rough one in a thrift store and they wanted a lot of money for it. I'm glad we waited because we found this nice one, in better shape and in it's box for a good price.

The #969 Musical Ferris Wheel was made from 1966-1972.  The one we got has straight sided figures, and the girl does not have plastic hair.  The doggie is an early figure and not the usual Lucky dog.  The newer versions have plastic figures but mine has wood figures. It is one of the oldest toys in my collection, I also have a Circus and a Huffy Puffy Train that maybe are older.
It has a price tag on it from Sears back when it was new it sold for $4.49!

Rockin the Adventure People Daredevil Van

With my Daredevil Van, North Woods Trailblazer, and Kitchen Set stove in Daddy's Den
I found this Fisher-Price Adventure People Daredevil Van #318 today at a second-hand store in North Carolina.  It is from 1978 and they were made until 1982.  This customized van cleaned up nice except for the worn away lithos :-( but at only $1.00 it was worth it! In the background you can see the kitchen set stove and my Adventure People orange North Woods Trailblazer Jeep! I have filled it up with items from the Little People, the Adventure People, and Imaginext collections. There were three different Van playsets in the Adventure People series, Daddy says he remembers when custom vans were all over the roads. This is the first of the Vans I have found.  I am still on the lookout for the TV Action Team set and the Motocross team van.

Fisher Price Collectors Club Convention 2014!

With Buzzy Bee "Toy Fest Parade Float"

Here I am in front of Fisher Price headquarters in East Aurora, NY.  They had old parade floats on display and I got to take pictures with them while I was there for this years toy convention.

This year at the toy show they had 10 vendors. I bought pieces to complete my A-Frame set, Herry Monster to complete my Sesame Street figures, an adventure people robot, a guide book to Fisher Price toys, a Children's Hospital, and a Ferris Wheel in the box with the little people still shrink wrapped from the factory!

It's always nice to see all the club members, this was the fourth year in a row I have been to East Aurora. Fisher Price Collectors Club Convention 2014 was great!  It was a good year!

Moving right along...

It's been a year since our last post :-( but we are back :-) In the last year we went on our yearly trip to the Fisher Price Collectors Club Convention in East Aurora, NY, and then we moved from living near Washington, DC in Virginia to Charlotte, North Carolina.

Loaded up and ready to move to Charlotte, NC

Here you can see my Play Family Pop-Up Camper all loaded up for our move. I got it at the Collectors Convention in 2012.

At this years convention I got the Play Family Village, the Nursery School and lots of other goodies, it was a great convention.  I've been to 3 conventions now, and I want to keep going to them for the rest of my life. The dealers room is amazing, with toys of all ages.  It is so exciting to see so many Fisher Price Toys in one place.

2013-East Aurora Welcome Sign
When we are in East Aurora we always make a trip to Fisher Price Headquarters.  I like to imagine what it was like to design and make all the great toys there, how I wish I could have been one of the local kids to try out the new toys.  When I grow up I want to be a toy designer.

Woo hoo..winter vacation....

Many of my toys will be spending winter vacation under glass. Some of my collection is on display from now through the month of December at our local public library display cases. We took so much stuff we ended up bringing a few things home that didn't fit. People of all ages told us how much they liked the toys and that "I had one of those..." to so many items from my collection. There were 2 glass cases with 4 shelves each, eight shelves of fun all together. Some of the things we put in there were the Junior Circus, Sesame Street, the School, the Main Street, the Camper, the Action Garage, the Chatter Telephone, the Zoo, the Western Town, the blue and yellow House, the brown House, the Fire Station, 2 Airports and Fun Jets, a Farm, a School Bus, the Merry Go Round, some clocks, radios, TV, Record Player, Pocket Cameras, a Giant Rock A Stack, the Swimming Pool, and a Santa's Workshop new style Little People set.

A-mazing A-frame!

Here is my favorite Little People house, the Amazing A-Frame! The Fisher-Price Play Family A-Frame # 990 is one of the coolest toys that Fisher-Price made. Dad bought it for me on ebay and I was so happy. It was waiting on our front doorstep and Daddy tried to pretend it was car parts. This was the 3rd A-Frame he tried to win on the same day, and finally got this one. he had kept it secret until it arrived! The lithos were in perfect condition and that is why we call it the Amazing A-Frame. I like to take this one on trips, and I took it to this year's Fisher-Price Collector's Club Convention, and will take it next year. I pack up my favorite figures and can play with it when we are traveling. My favorite part that goes to this set is the red jeep. We had found some parts before we got the A-Frame. We still need to get more pieces for this set, but we have plenty of pieces to furnish it. I love the blue color. It has a kitchen and a living room with decks, a bedroom with balconies. There is a door panel that becomes a nice garden area. We have a bbq grille for it, and use a table and chairs, a picnic bench from the zoo, a swimming pool and two beds. I put a miniature Fisher-Price Chatter Phone that came from a Toy Story 3 mini-figure set. It is from one of my favorite movies that has lots of Fisher-Price toys in it. I love the bell, it is so cool, like a cow bell.
